About

Sheryl Elizabeth Alethea Hermione is an Indonesian illustrator whose works weave nostalgia, gratitude, and the extraordinary within the ordinary. Rooted in the words of Raden Adjeng Kartini, ‘habis gelap, terbitlah terang’ (after darkness, the sun will rise), her art often carries the aesthetic of old film, creating keepsakes of memory and future nostalgia– a gentle reminder that, in the end, everything will always be alright.
With her interest in diverse forms of art, from 3D laser-cut works to illustration, Sheryl explores mental health through colour, symbolic imagery, and playful light and shadow theatre, inviting her audience into landscapes that feel at once mundane and otherworldly.
Her process blends traditional hand-drawn methods with modern digital tools. Each piece is printed on acetate paper, then scanned and meticulously refined – threading together the quiet strength humans carry as they navigate life.‘Life will always be life’. Sheryl’s art is an embrace, a reflection, and a journey of growth – a mosaic of the small moments that make us human.
